A teenager has been found guilty of manslaughter after a 17-year-old boy in Hackney was stabbed to death.

The 17-year-old boy, who cannot be named due to his age, was convicted of manslaughter at Snaresbrook Crown Court today (November 29).

He had previously pleaded guilty to possession of an offensive weapon.

Nathan Bawuah was fatally stabbed just before 11pm on Hackney Road earlier this year on February 17.

Officers and London Ambulance Service attended, but he died at the scene.

His family have since been supported by specialist officers.

Detectives launched an investigation, including forensic examination and analysis of all available CCTV.

Detectives identified the 17-year-old male riding to the scene on his bike.

He then got into a confrontation with the victim before producing a large machete and stabbing him to the chest.

The youth answered “no comment” to all police questions.

However, he provided a prepared statement claiming self-defence and was charged on February 21 with Nathan’s murder.

He will be sentenced on January 24, 2025, at Inner London Crown Court
