A lorry driver has died after suffering a medical episode behind the wheel in Hackney.
Officers were called to reports of a crash in Kingsland Road at 8.50am today (November 1).
London Ambulance Service also attended and found the driver, a 59-year-old man, had suffered a medical episode.
He was taken to hospital for treatment where he later died.
Police enquiries are underway to notify next of kin.
No other vehicles are thought to have been involved.
A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called at 08:50hrs on Friday, 1 November to reports of a collision at Kingsland Road, Hackney.
“Officers and London Ambulance Service attended. At the scene the driver of a van/truck had suffered a medical episode.
“The driver, a man aged 59, was taken by LAS to an east London hospital where sadly, he later died.
“Enquiries are underway to notify next of kin.
“No other vehicles are thought to have been involved. There were no other reported injuries.
“A scene remains in place while the vehicle is recovered.
“Anyone who witnessed this incident or has footage, but has not yet spoken with police, should call 101 or post on X @MetCC quoting 2183/1NOV.”
