A man has been charged after a shooting that has left a nine-year-old girl in hospital for months.

Javon Reily, 32, of Farnborough Road, Hampshire, was charged with four counts of attempted murder after appearing at Westminster Magistrates’ Court today (August 10).

It follows a shooting in Kingsland High Street, Dalston, with shots fired at the Evin restaurant on May 29 at about 9.20pm.

A girl, 9, was seriously injured in the shooting as she was having dinner at the restaurant. She is still in hospital, where she is in a stable condition.

Her family has been informed of the charges and continues to be supported by specially trained officers.

Three other men were also injured, but they have since been released from hospital.

Reily was arrested on Friday (August 9) after a car was stopped in Chelsea.

He was remanded in custody to appear at the Old Bailey on September 6.

Detective Chief Superintendent James Conway, who is lead for policing in Hackney and Tower Hamlets, said: “Today’s charges are a significant development in what has been a painstaking and meticulous investigation. I would like to pay credit to those from our communities who came forward to speak to us.

"Our thoughts remain with our young victim and her family as they continue to confront the devastating effects of gun crime.”

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
