A man wanted by police over a fatal stabbing was involved in a car crash as he tried to flee arrest.
The Metropolitan Police are hoping to speak to Kamar Williams, 33, in relation to the death of a bus driver in Hackney last week.
Williams lives on the Isle of Dogs but is also known to frequent both east and south east London.
Members of the public are warned not to approach him and to alert police immediately if they see him.
Police launched a new appeal after Williams was spotted by officers on Saturday at around 7.15pm in Lee Green, south east London.
Police stopped a car on the South Circular Road at Westhorne Avenue, at the junction with Burnt Ash Hill, but as officers approached the car, it drove off and crashed into a number of other people.
A woman, 30, was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and has been released on bail.
Detective Chief Inspector Mark Rogers from the Met’s Specialist Crime (Homicide) Command, said: “A number of people sustained minor injuries but fortunately, none of them were serious.
“Williams then decamped and made off. A woman was arrested.”
It is believed that Williams sustained a leg injury and went to hospital for treatment.
DCI Rogers said: “We believe there could be people helping him, by either providing shelter or helping him to move around.
“Anyone who is assisting him should be highly aware that they could land themselves in very serious trouble. I would urge anyone who might be involved to think long and carefully about what they are doing.
“Kamar, if you are reading this, we are working 24/7 to trace you and will not stop. Do the right thing and go to a police station immediately.”
Mr Williams is wanted in relation to the death of Derek Thomas, 53, who was killed in a Northwold Road, Stoke Newington, last Tuesday (July 30) at 11.05pm.
The Stoke Newington man was attacked on his way home from work at the Northumberland Park bus garage in Tottenhamm, where he worked for transport company Go-Ahead London.
A post mortem examination held at Poplar Mortuary last Thursday (August 1) gave the cause of death as a stab wound to the chest.
His next of kin are aware and are being supported by specially trained officers.
Anyone who sees Williams is asked to call 999 immediately, or anyone with information of his whereabouts should share it with the incident room on 0208 345 3715 quoting Operation Brooktunnel.
