Gillett Square was still cordoned off until the early afternoon today (May 3) after the knife attack.
In 2021, Hackney’s Dalston Jazz Bar director Robert Beckford called the area a crime hotspot, saying it has been ongoing for “maybe 15 years”.
At the time he said there were “several stabbings and lots of knives found in the square”.
Anyone with information is asked to call police via 101 quoting reference CAD 7756/02May.
