Police have released a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak to after a man was attacked when he tackled a thief.
The incident happened at around 10.45pm on July 20 in 2023 when a man, aged in his 50s, saw a thief stealing his jacket from his car outside his home in Britannia Walk.
The Metropolitan Police said the victim had refused to give the suspect a lift earlier.
The thief reportedly then ran off wearing the jacket before returning and punching and kicking the victim, who was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
His injuries included a fractured cheekbone and nose and cuts to his eye.
The Metropolitan Police have now issued a picture of a man they want to speak to.
Investigating officer Det Sgt Rhiannon Essam, of Central East CID, said the incident was “extremely distressing" for the victim and left him with serious injuries that left him in hospital for more than a month.
She said extensive enquiries have been carried out after the attack including an analysis of CCTV footage, forensic examination and speaking with multiple witnesses, but had not been successful in identifying a suspect.
She added: “We continue with our efforts to find the person responsible and are now asking the public to help us identify the man in this footage who we would like to speak to."
Anyone who recognises the man or has any information should call on 101 or via ‘X’ @MetCC quoting CAD 8907/20JUL23.
