A man has been charged with the murder of Michael Murphy on Boxing Day.
Jurejs Vankovs, 38, of no fixed address, was charged today (January 2) after the fatal stabbing last week in Hackney.
Police were called to Cranwood Street in the early hours of December 26. Michael, 49, was found at the scene with stab wounds.
Vankovs has now been charged with his murder as well as possession of a bladed article.
He will now appear in custody at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (January 3).
A police spokesperson said that Michael’s next of kin continue to be supported by specially trained officers.
Detectives from the Specialist Crime Command are continuing to appeal for information about the incident.
