Around 80 people had to flee a building after a blaze broke out in a shop.
Six fire engines and 40 firefighters were called to the shop fire in City Road near Shoreditch just after 1.45pm yesterday (August 23).
The London Fire Brigade (LFB) said that the blaze broke out in a shop that had flats above and that it used one of its 32 metre ladders at the scene.
A LFB spokesperson said that around 80 people were evacuated and that there were no reports of any injuries.
It took firefighters around two hours to extinguish the blaze, with the incident under control just before 3.45pm.

Stoke Newington councillor Susan Fajana-Thomas said: “Thanks to all the firefighters from Shoreditch, Whitechapel, Islington who attended and brought this under control.”
The cause of the fire will now be investigated by the brigade.
