A man has been arrested after two police officers were assaulted and one was seriously injured.
Police were called to an address in De Beauvoir Estate at around 2am on Friday (March 10).
The reports were of a male attempting to force entry into a property. The caller suggested he might be suffering a mental health crisis.
Officers attended and found a male on the balcony of the property.
The Metropolitan Police say the person attacked both officers, one of whom received serious injuries, and both were taken to hospital for treatment
A knife was recovered from the scene.
The man fled the property and enquiries were launched to trace the subject.
A man, aged in his 30s, was arrested that afternoon and taken into custody at an east London police station.
Detective Chief Superintendent James Conway said: "This incident is once again, an example of the very real dangers our officers can be confronted with, at any time, as they ultimately work to protect and serve our communities.
"We will ensure that both officers involved in this incident, who showed great bravery and professionalism, will receive the continuing support they need and deserve."
