A man was shot in the leg as well as being stabbed several times in an attack at a station.
Police have today issued an update on the man’s condition after armed officers rushed to Hackney Central station following reports of a firearms incident yesterday (March 1) at 1.29pm.
In an appeal yesterday, British Transport Police said the man was found with stab wounds and was taken to hospital in a critical condition.
But police have today revealed that the man, 20, has “multiple” laceration wounds as well as a single gunshot wound to his leg.
He remains in a critical but stable condition.
A knife was recovered at the scene as well as a bullet and a bullet casing.
The station was closed for more than seven hours yesterday as officers investigated.
Detective Inspector Paul Attwell said: “While I appreciate this incident may come as a shock to the local community, it is important to state that this was an isolated incident.
“We have been conducting extensive enquiries at the station and in the local area and we are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or the events leading up to it – they may have information that could be crucial to our investigation.
“The public will notice an increased presence of officers at the station and in the surrounding area to provide reassurance following the incident.”
