Lion dancing is mane attraction of annual celebrations
A fun-filled festival organised by Hackney’s south-east Asian community takes place on Saturday afternoon.
Visitors will be able to experience the culture and customs of communities from Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos, who have settled in Hackney.
Their annual mid-Autumn harvest festival features such colourful attractions as lion dancing and a colourful lantern procession.
Celebrations kick off at 3pm and continue throughout the afternoon with demonstrations of traditional Vietnamese Cambodian and Laos dancing and the customary giving of gifts.
The event is hosted by the VLC centre in Whiston Road, Haggerston, which offers help and support to refugees from Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia.
Tet-Trung Thu is a mid-autumn harvest celebration dating back over 15,000 years.
