Crowds braved the cold weather at the Woodberry Down Winterfest to hear carols and tuck into a Caribbean Christmas feast.
Young singers from the Woodberry Down Community Primary School choir kicked off the event with a performance, before helping Mayor of Hackney Philip Glanville lead the countdown to switch on the Christmas lights.
The action then moved inside the Redmond Centre for face painting, entertainment from Mr Mojo. more songs from Creative Carols led by the Manor House Development Trust and a free Caribbean meal.
A Woodberry Down Bake-Off competition saw The Edge youth club narrowly beat secondary school Skinner’s Academy to the top prize.
More than 5,500 homes are being built on Woodberry Down in a partnership between Hackney Council, Berkeley Homes and Genesis Housing Association.
