National League: Leyton Orient boss Justin Edinburgh delighted with Wrexham victory

A first-half goal from Macauley Bonne sealed the three points against Andy Davies’ men at Brisbane Road.

The club has not won three on the bounce at home since August, 2015, when they were under Ian Hendon in League Two.

“We’re delighted to have got our third consecutive home victory,” Edinburgh said.

“Credit to the players.”

Edinburgh was also thrilled to bounce back from their 1-0 away defeat to Hartlepool United in mid-week.

“I think in terms of result, we wanted to get a result, I can’t knock their level of performance on Tuesday but they all pretty much deflated like myself how we didn’t get something out of the game but credit to the players.

He then went on to praise the young defence who started against Wrexham including the likes of Marvin Ekpiteta, Dan Happe, Sam Ling and Myles Judd.

“I think Marvin Ekpiteta was the oldest at 22 and I thought they were outstanding and a big mention goes to Myles Judd who has been out injured, got himself back in and I thought that was a remarkable performance for your first game back in a long while.”

In the 29th minute Macauley Bonne rose up and headed home a Jobi McAnuff cross into the bottom corner.

And Edinburgh has nothing but praise pair for the pair who linked up for the goal.

“He (Jobi) was very good in possession, his work rate goes without question, he leads with everything.

“A deaft cross from Jobi and a very fine headed finish from Macauley Bonne.”

The former Gillingham boss also revealed of his delight to have midfielder Charlie Lee back fit after spending majority of the season on the sidelines.

The 31-year-old suffered anterior cruciate ligament damage back in August and returned to action in the 90th minute of the match.

“I’m pleased for Charlie, it’s hard when you have to come back from a serious injury, it’s been a tough road for him but I’m pleased and we’ll look to try get him some more minutes before the end of the season.”
